Active RVA Awards Honor Businesses and Schools Going the Extra Mile

On April 12, Sports Backers hosted the 10th annual Active RVA Awards presented by Cigna. The awards recognize individuals, organizations, and initiatives that promote physical activity and active living throughout the Richmond region.
The Active RVA Awards celebrate the efforts of the honorees, who are working to make the Richmond area a healthier and more active community. This year’s award ceremony took place at the beautiful Jepson Alumni Center on the University of Richmond campus. Almost 100 people were in attendance, and we recognized 34 companies and 76 schools for their efforts in making Richmond a more active community. One school and one company were awarded the Active RVA Company and Active RVA School of the Year Awards:
- Active RVA Company of the Year: Virginia Credit Union
- Active RVA School of the Year: Kaechele Elementary School

This year’s Active RVA certified companies and schools will have several opportunities to network and engage with other organizations doing similar work. We will host our first Active RVA Seminar on May 31st geared towards Active RVA Companies.
The Sports Backers Active RVA Awards presented by Cigna serve as a reminder of the importance of physical activity in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. By recognizing those who are leading the way in promoting active living, the awards inspire others to get involved and make a difference in their own communities.
