Dan Schmitt
President, RMC Events, Inc.
Dan founded RMC Events, Inc., an event staffing provider, in April of 1999 and currently serves as President. Since its inception, Dan has guided RMC Events from 8 to over 1800 staff members and from 16 events in 1999 to over 10,000 events in 2018 throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia. A graduate of the University of Richmond, Dan completed industry internships and work experiences with the New York Yankees, Richmond Renegades hockey franchise, and Richmond Coliseum.
Dan has served his community as a volunteer coach and member of the Board of Directors at Glen Allen Youth Athletics Association since 2006, serving as president of the non-profit from 2013 through 2018. In November 2018, Dan was elected to the Henrico Board of Supervisors as the Brookland District representative and currently holds that seat. Dan was awarded the Richmond Regional Tourism 2018 Unsung Hero award and can regularly be found out and about in the community promoting the outdoors and regional tourism. Dan has served, or currently serves, on many boards and commissions in the region including: the Private Security Services Advisory Board, Richmond Regional Airport Commission, Richmond Regional Tourism Board, Local Emergency Planning Committee, and the Richmond Regional Planning District Commission.
Dan, his wife (Sharon) and two children (Taylor & Carter) are all outdoor enthusiasts and are passionate about active living within their community. As Dan states, “In our family, the importance of an active lifestyle has been a constant. Many medals hang on the wall from Sharon’s dozens of road races and for more than a decade, we have enjoyed an active outdoor lifestyle with the kids. It’s of paramount importance that we continue to offer a variety of these opportunities for generations to come and maintain a keen focus upon the safety of our residents and visitors as they take part in all that our region has to offer.”
