Richmond Bike Startups worth checking out!

Olivia here! What else to say about these two community opportunities?

We are excited to see two Richmond organizations with incredible bike-focused ideas find support through the community!

Secretly Y’all, the brainchild of Chris Milk and Kathleen Brady, a Richmond project that uses stories to build community, is planning “Bicycle Y’all”, a Bike Month-themed event that will incorporate “music, a mobile bike story booth, beer & food carts, tables for local bike advocates, shops & non-profits, ramps & half pipes for BMXers, and other activities that focus on helping all of us understand each other better. Oh, and stories!”  With a backing of Bicycle Y’all via their Kickstarter page you can receive postcards, pins, podcasts, production time, personal shoutouts, AND you could be the lucky owner of a crocheted beard.

Richmond Rides has spent the past year crafting bicycle tours of Church Hill and have successfully conducted tours focusing on the city’s history and food(!!) for the past six months.  In fact, they have been so successful that they are already the #3 Sightseeing Tour in Richmond according to Tripadvisor.  Before now, they’ve been “BYOB” (Bring Your Own Bike), but they’re hoping to invest in a fleet of twenty bicycles to broaden their perspective audience and get people touring the city on bikes, even if they don’t have one!  With a donation through their Indiegogo site, they’re offering gifts from stainless steel water bottles and limited edition Richmond Rides t-shirts, to discounted tours…what a deal!
