Adam George wins Allianz Partners Richmond Marathon; Bethany Sachtleben claims women’s title

46th running of marathon included CarMax Richmond Half Marathon, VCU Health Richmond 8k

 

RICHMOND, VA – Adam George  of Washington, D.C., took first place in the 2023 Allianz Partners Richmond Marathon, finishing ahead of Roland Hakes of Irmo, SC, and Robert Mazzanti of Richmond, Va. George finished in a time of 2:24:18, while Hakes came in at 2:28:37, followed by Mazzanti in 2:29:44.

Bethany Sachtleben was the first female to cross the finish line, followed by Ave Grosenheider and Rebecca McGavin. Sachtleben, of Broomfield, CO, finished in a time of 2:40:26, followed by Grosenheider, of Richmond, Va., in 2:47:51, and McGavin, of Durham, NC, in 2:51:20.

In the CarMax Richmond Half Marathon, Ryan Ford, of Blowing Rock, NC, took the men’s title in a time of 1:03:17, followed by Daniel Schaffer also of Blowing Rock, NC, in a time of 1:05:25, and Jonathan Phillips, of Brookline, MA, in a time of 1:05:26. On the women’s side, Emma Rogers took first, followed by Laurel Le Moigne and Kalkidan Feleke. Rogers, of Williamsburg, Va., crossed the finish line in a time of 1:15:40, while Le Moigne, of Springfield, Va., finished in 1:17:08, followed by Feleke, of Woodbridge, Va., in 1:17:34.

In the VCU Health Richmond 8k, Eli Moskowitz of Allston, MA, crossed the finish line first ahead of Issac Prather of Summersville, WVa., and Robinson Snider of Wrightsville Beach, N.C. Moskowitz’s winning time was 23:04, followed by Prather at 23:13 and Snider at 23:27.

Calli Doan took first in the women’s race, followed by Laura Labuschaigne in second and Allison Kelley in third. Doan, of Lynchburg, Va., had a time of 26:24, while Labuschaigne, of Henrico, Va., came in at 26:44, followed by Kelley, of Charlottesville, Va., at 27:59.

The 2023 event also included the fourth edition of the Richmond Challenge, in which participants took part in one race distance in person and have the month of November to complete the other two distances virtually. Nearly 100 runners are registered for the 2023 Richmond Challenge.

Over 18,000 runners registered to take part in all three races combined, and tens of thousands more spectators lined the streets to cheer on runners as they made their way to the riverfront finish in downtown Richmond. Full results are available at www.RichmondMarathon.org.
