Sports Backers Announces Two New Additions to Staff
RICHMOND, VA – Sports Backers, a non-profit organization dedicated to inspiring residents from all corners of the Richmond region to live actively, is pleased to welcome new staff members Brittney Antozzi and Mara George. Brittney will serve as Sponsorship Manager, while Mara will serve as Event Production Coordinator.
Brittney Antozzi – Sponsorship Manager
Brittney joins Sports Backers as Sponsorship Manager, and will work with new and existing sponsors, coordinate sponsorship fulfillment, and manage expo and event-day activation opportunities with sponsors and partners. She will also work with other Sports Backers staff to fulfill sponsorship agreements. Before joining Sports Backers, Brittney worked as an event coordinator with Richmond Raceway. She attended Virginia Tech and graduated with degrees in business management and psychology. Following that, she earned an M.B.A. and M.S. in sports management from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
Brittney stays active in a variety of ways, including through kickboxing, soccer, hiking, camping, going for runs with her dog Kaia, and any other recreational activity you may want to invite her to join, such as dodgeball, basketball, or flag football.
Mara George – Event Production Coordinator
Mara George joins Sports Backers as Event Production Coordinator, and will oversee customer relations and the online registration platform for all Sports Backers events, as well as manage event entertainment coordination. She will recruit bands, spirit groups, announcers and other talent and manage staff and volunteers to assist with the entertainment setup.
Prior to Sports Backers, Mara worked in customer service, billing, and administration for Certified Services Co., a family-owned restoration and cabinetry shop. She also serves as a board member, membership coordinator, and race director for the Richmond Road Runners Club. Mara enjoys yoga and running, and has been a training team coach for the Ukrop’s Monument Avenue 10k, Markel Richmond Half Marathon, and VCU Health 8k. She has a B.A. in political science from James Madison University and M.P.A. from Virginia Commonwealth University.
