CarMax Tacky Light Run Registration to Open July 23rd
Registration for the third-annual CarMax Tacky Light Run opens on Thursday, July 23rd, for the six kilometer (3.72 mile) holiday-themed fun run. The date for this year’s event is Saturday, December 12th, and it will once again combine one of Richmond’s favorite traditions – tacky holiday lights – with a celebration of an active lifestyle. New in 2015 is a youth rate which starts at $10 for participants under the age of 18. Also, for a limited time, a special registration rate is available to the first 500 participants to sign up for the event.
The event will start and finish at Midlothian Mines Park and will take participants through the Walton Park neighborhood, one of the area’s most festive collections of holiday lights and decorations.
To kick off the registration period, there will be an online #SearchingForSanta competition open now and running through Thursday, July 23rd at 9am. Using the CarMax Tacky Light Run Facebook page, participants are encouraged to select the best location in RVA for Tacky Tim, the official event mascot, to be pictured searching for Santa. The winner of the competition will receive a special prize, and Tacky Tim will appear in a picture at the selected location.
Registration for the CarMax Tacky Light Run includes race entry, a post-event holiday party, a participant goodie bag, new participant stocking cap, and a special ornament finisher medal, as well as plenty of photo opportunities at the start, finish, and along the course. Glow kits are also available for purchase during the registration process for an additional $5.
An untimed event, the CarMax Tacky Light Run is fit for families and groups alike. The special ‘Blitzen’s Block’ pricing, at $25 for adults and $10 for kids, is available to the first 500 registrants. Once that block has filled, registration won’t reopen until September 14 at an increased rate. For more information or to register for the CarMax Tacky Light Run, please visit www.sportsbackers.org.
