CarMax Tacky Light Run Opens Second Registration Block

Sports Backers announced today the opening of the ‘Rudolph’s Runner’s block, the second block of registrations for the CarMax Tacky Light Run on December 12. The block will remain open until October 15 or until it fills the 1,125 available entries. The first block, ‘Blitzen’s Block,’ sold out in 24 hours. The CarMax Tacky Light Run also features new youth pricing levels, and the current registration fees are $32 for adults and $17 for youth under 18.

The event will once again combine one of Richmond’s favorite traditions – tacky holiday lights – with a celebration of an active lifestyle. The six kilometer (3.72 mile) holiday-themed fun run will start and finish at Midlothian Mines Park and will take participants through the Walton Park neighborhood, one of the area’s most festive collections of holiday lights and decorations.

Registration for the CarMax Tacky Light Run includes race entry, a post-event holiday party, a participant goodie bag, new participant stocking cap, and a special ornament finisher medal, as well as plenty of photo opportunities at the start, finish, and along the course. An untimed event, the CarMax Tacky Light Run is fit for families and groups alike.

Registration Now Available for Call Federal Marathon Jr.

Sports Backers also offers other youth and family friendly events, including the Call Federal Marathon Jr., and registration is now open for the event to be held on Saturday, October 24. This kids-only running event, winner of Running USA’s ‘Youth Running Event of the Year’ in 2014, will again be held at Byrd Park and will offer two different distance options: a 0.5-mile course for children ages four to seven, and a 1-mile course for children 12 and under.

“This event is about helping children set goals for themselves while getting active in the process, and that is something we are extremely proud to be a part of,” said Roger Ball, Call Federal’s CEO/President. “Our goal is to improve family financial health in the Richmond area, and physical health is a big piece of that overall picture.”

All participating children will receive a special Call Federal Marathon Jr. T-shirt, a finisher medal, and post-race food. The race festival, starting at 10:00am and running until 2:00pm, will feature a photo booth, face painter, arts and crafts, and other exciting activities for participants and families. The 0.5-mile distance will begin at 12:00pm, and the 1-miler at 12:15pm. Although it will be held three weeks prior, the Call Federal Marathon Jr. is part of the Anthem Richmond Marathon weekend, which includes the full marathon, the American Family Fitness Half Marathon, and the HCA Virginia 8k. Kids Run RVA is the official event charity of the Call Federal Marathon Jr. Kids Run RVA promotes a physically active lifestyle to all youth in the Richmond Region.
