Read and Ride
Best Practice: Read and Ride
One way to integrate physical activity in a school setting is by creating a Read and Ride program. Putting an exercise bike in a classroom can provide teachers an outlet of activity for their students. Children can use the exercise bike when they complete their classwork, as a center, for a reward, to release some energy, or simply for fun.
It’s easy to create a read and ride room. Start by collecting a set of exercise bikes. Teachers can sign up when they want their children in the classroom. Establish a process for the children to use the bikes. Provide a variety of books and magazines for use by the students. See the positive results.
