Over 90 Organizations Recognized at Active RVA Awards presented by Cigna

The Active RVA Awards is a special event allowing Sports Backers to recognize the workplaces and schools that have been certified each year for inspiring active living. We haven’t had an in-person awards event in over two years but on March 29 we were able to get together, in person, to celebrate and recognize this year’s award recipients. We were excited to host nearly 100 people at Gather Arts District for this year’s Active RVA Awards presented by Cigna. The smiles, applause, and overall connections and conversation were amazing to experience once again.

Keynote speakers included Jacki Quinlan from Sports Backers, Carter Whitelow from Williams Mullen, and Lee Hannah, Vice President of Sales and Customer Relations at Cigna, the presenting sponsor and long-time partner of the Active RVA Awards program. Jacki took a few moments to acknowledge the hard work of the school systems over the last couple of years and share insight on how schools have overcome numerous challenges to think outside the box and keep students engaged while putting their health and safety first.
Williams Mullen is a long-time recipient of the Active RVA Award so it was only appropriate to have Carter speak to the group about their commitment to employee engagement and encourage employers to continue to invest in their employees.
Active RVA Award Recipients
Lee Hannah provided the group with research and data points surrounding the benefits of a happy and healthy workforce, especially as we all continue to move forward. Cigna, like many organizations and employers, understands that in order to have a successful organization, you need to pour into your people first.

Sports Backers looks forward to continuing to work with our Active RVA Certified Workplaces and Schools while encouraging more organizations to apply for certification, and we are excited to continue our partnership with Cigna.
