Sports Backers New Office & Active Living Hub

The future home of Sports Backers office and Active Living Hub on the Fall Line trail offers an exciting opportunity to engage the community.

Existing Conditions Before Renovation and Trail

The Fall Line trail dissects Sports Backers new office location, a former bank branch property on Lakeside Avenue, now owned by Henrico County where they will build a trailhead with restrooms and parking. Sports Backers is raising $1.3 million to renovate this  building for its new headquarters and to serve as a regional hub for active living.  The building offers ample space for Sports Backers staff along with a group fitness studio, meeting space, and unmatched connectivity to the Fall Line, a 43-mile separated paved trail which is a signature project spearheaded by Sports Backers.

Active Living Hub

Once renovated, this mission-oriented building will not only provide a perfect base of operations for Sports Backers staff, it will be a lively hub of activity both inside and out. The building will include office space, a multi-purpose fitness and training room, a community meeting room, programmable outdoor space, and direct access to the Fall Line. The space will be used to host over 11,000 people per year through group fitness classes, youth coaching sessions, advocacy training, and community partner meetings. Our program staff will save time and energy hosting meetings and training sessions in our new fitness room instead of having to source meeting locations. Tens of thousands of area residents will pass through our new space along the Fall Line each year. Our vision is to create a place with an open invitation to everyone in the region to join us in our mission to inspire active living!

Support the Campaign

An investment in this $1.3 million campaign is an investment in the active living future of the region. For the past 30 years, Sports Backers has created and executed large scale participatory events, created training teams to make crossing a finish line achievable to everyone, and provided free group exercise classes, youth fitness clubs and advocate for bike and pedestrian infrastructure to provide safe and accessible physical fitness options to everyone. Our new office on Lakeside Avenue will provide space to host community events & trainings while giving our staff a chance to continue to bring together partners in the community to make our region the best place to live, work, and play.
