Best Team Tent Contest

The Best Team Tent Contest at the Markel Corporate Run is where work and play unite in the ultimate showdown of creativity, camaraderie, and team spirit! This is where ordinary tents transform into extraordinary headquarters–show off what makes your company culture stand out. Let your tent do the talking and take company pride to the next level!
Judges will be on the lookout for the most eye-catching decorations, spirited team members, and those extra details that make your tent a standout—think synchronized team chants, fun photo ops, and more! Not only is this a chance to score your team a FREE 10×10 tent for the 2026 Markel Corporate Run, but it’s also a perfect way to bond with your colleagues, get some laughs, and make your mark on Richmond’s Biggest Office Party!
How It Works
- Create your team and make sure everyone is signed up before June 5.
- Team Captains, purchase a tent before May 23. Visit Team Store >
- Go all out on Thursday, June 5! Teams can arrive as early as 2:30pm and set-up should be completed by 5:00pm.
- Judging will take place between 5:30-6:00pm.
- The Best Team Tent Contest winner will announced at 7:30pm during the Awards Ceremony.
A Few Things to Keep In Mind
- Private tents and tables are not allowed in the Hirschler Post Race Office Party.
- No vehicles are allowed in the team tent area.
- No open flames, barbecue/grilling, no live or amplified sound or entertainment at your tent space.
- No sampling of food or beverage from your tent space to outside team members.
- No outside alcohol is allowed. Coolers and bags are subject to search.
- No glass bottles.
- No generators are allowed at tent space; any decorations requiring power must use batteries.
- Team tent decorations must remain within the boundaries of your tent space–no blocking aisles or impeding on other tent spaces.
- No helium filled balloons.
- One company banner may be displayed within the structure of a rented tent. All other banners will be removed.
- The event concludes at 9 pm, and everyone must vacate the post race area at this time.
- All teams are required to completely remove all decorations from their tent area by 9 pm. This is not the responsibility of the event staff, and anything left over after 9 pm WILL be discarded.
