How does the wave start work?
Great question! The Atlantic Union Bank 10k Mini uses waves to reduce overcrowding on the course and ensure kids run with others in their age group.
8:00 AM – Wave 1 (10-12 y.o.)
8:01 AM – Wave 2 (9 y.o.)
8:02 AM – Wave 3 (8 y.o.)
8:03 AM – Wave 4 (7 y.o.)
8:04 AM – Wave 5 (4-6 y.o.)
Am I allowed to accompany a child in the 1-mile run?
One parent/guardian can accompany a child 8 or under in the 1-mile event for free. Race perks (shirt, medal, event bag, and post-race food) will not be included. You must sign a companion waiver during registration or at packet pick up on race day.

Can I defer my Atlantic Union Bank 10k Mini entry?
Well, that depends. You can defer your 2025 Atlantic Union Bank 10k Mini entry to 2026 as long as you do it before March 23, 2025. You can only defer your entry for one year and there is a $15 fee. For instructions on how to defer your entry, click here.

Do you offer a virtual option?
Yes! No matter your reason, we do offer a virtual option for the event so that you can still be a part of the Atlantic Union Bank 10k Mini. Click here to register for the virtual option.

Event Day
where can i pick up my packet?
Just like the 10k participants, Atlantic Union Bank 10k Mini participants get the full race weekend experience, too! Packet pick up will take place at the Health & Fitness Expo at the Richmond Raceway on Thursday, April 10 from 3:00 – 7:00 pm and Friday, April 11 from 11:00 am – 7:00 pm. PLEASE NOTE: If your child is a member of a Kids On The Move Club, your Coach will provide further instruction and you should defer to them for race day planning!
What is the Kids Meeting Area?
After kids cross the finish line, they will head through the finish chute and into The Kids Meeting Area, a barricaded and secure area manned by Sports Backers staff and sheriff deputies. Kids may leave the area once they are reunited with a parent or guardian. Access into the meeting area will be on Franklin Street in Monroe Park. In order to alleviate congestion in the meeting area and exits, only ONE adult may enter the meeting area. Please remember that the Kids Run Meeting Area is just a meeting area and not a holding area. It is your responsibility to make arrangements to meet your child at the meeting area after the race. Once reunited with your child, please proceed to one of the designated exits and then onto the Post-Race Food Tent.

Yes, all finishers will receive a medal in the finish chute.
Can I use a stroller or wear a baby carrier?
No, strollers and baby carriers are not permitted on course for the Atlantic Union Bank 10k Mini or Ukrop’s Monument Avenue 10k presented by Kroger.
IS there anything I can’t do?
In order to provide a safe and great race experience for all, we don’t allow pets, bicycles, strollers, or inline skates…to name a few. Read more about our Event Policies.
