Registration for the YMCA 10k Training Team is
now closed.
If
you are registered for the program but have not yet picked up
your 10-week training guide, they are available at your local
YMCA branch or at Sports Backers Stadium

Looking for a New Year’s Resolution
that will stick? The Sports Backers and YMCA have teamed
up to offer the YMCA 10k Training Team. Individuals of all
levels interested in running or walking with a specific goal in
mind – the Ukrop’s Monument Avenue 10k (that’s 6.2 miles) on Saturday,
April 5 – will work together to reach this goal.
When
you sign up for the YMCA 10k Training Team, here is what you get:
10-week training program (starts
on Saturday, January 26) with a detailed written schedule;
guidance from experienced coaches;
organized weekly group runs/walks
on Saturday mornings;
a special YMCA 10k Training
Team shirt;
entry
in the Ukrop’s Monument Avenue 10k along with its great benefits;
special clinics on subjects
like running shoes and other related subjects;

Non-YMCA members are encouraged to participate as well.
The deadline for entry in the YMCA 10k
Training Team is Friday, February 1, 2008.

YMCA 10k Training Team

Includes your entry in the Ukrop’s Monument Avenue 10k and
10-week training program.
All Training Team entry fees must be received by February
1, 2008 in order to participate in the program. Training
Team fees are non-refundable and entries are non-transferable,
no exceptions. Once we receive your entry, you will
not receive a refund if you cannot participate.

registration form and mail it in*.
Head
Coach Experienced
head coach Danny Shea will once again lead the 2008 YMCA 10k Training
Team. His extensive background in running (over 300 races) and
his affiliation with the YMCA for over 15 years is a perfect combination
to help runners and walkers of all abilities properly train for
a 10k. He is a Health and Physical Education teacher at Robious
Middle School, where he also serves as the cross country and track
coach. Danny has been a fitness instructor at the Midlothian Family
YMCA for 7 years.
Important Information
All Training Team entry fees
must be received by February 1, 2008 in order to participate
in the program. Training Team fees are non-refundable
and entries are non-transferable, no exceptions. Once
we receive your entry, you will not receive a refund if you
cannot participate.
This event is conducted under
the rules of USA Track & Field.
In consideration of the safety
of all participants, NO STROLLERS, BABY JOGGERS, ANIMALS ON
LEASHES, SKATEBOARDS, SKATES or BICYCLES will be allowed during
Group Runs/Walks or on the course during the Ukrop's Monument
Avenue 10k on April 5. This will be strictly enforced.
Saturday
Group Run/Walk schedule at participating YMCA's The schedule for the weekly Saturday group run/walk at each
facility is listed below, as is a brief description of the two
running levels. You are welcome to change groups as needed.
Unless noted, the group run/walk will start and finish at the
facility itself.
Novice
Runners -
just starting to run and may include some run/walk Intermediate Runners
- currently capable of running 9-12 miles a week
