The 10th anniversary Ukrop's Monument Avenue 10k
is set for Saturday, March 28, 2009

We’re turning 10 and we want you to celebrate with us! The Ukrop’s Monument Avenue 10k has quickly become one of the most prestigious and popular running races in the country and Virginia’s favorite participation event.

Surrounded by magnificent architecture, tree-lined medians and statues commemorating the city’s historic past, Monument Avenue offers one of the most unique and beautiful courses anywhere. It’s no wonder that the event has been voted the best road race in the southeast! Details.

Training begins January 17

Looking for a New Year’s Resolution that will stick?  The Sports Backers and YMCA have teamed up to offer the YMCA 10k Training Team.  Individuals of all levels interested in running or walking with a specific goal in mind – the Ukrop’s Monument Avenue 10k (that’s 6.2 miles) on Saturday, March 28 – will work together to reach this goal. Details.

Volunteer for one of our events!
Volunteers are the backbone of the Sports Backers. With the help of thousands of volunteers, the Sports Backers are able to host successful events such as the SunTrust Richmond Marathon, the Ukrop's Monument Avenue 10k and the James River Adventure Games year after year. Volunteering at our events can provide your group or organization with community service hours. Details.

Program begins in mid-January

The Fit For Life Kids Challenge is a free incentive-based fitness program for elementary school-aged children. The program will encourage youth to run 26 miles over the course of a 10-week period. Details.

“Save Our Kids: The Obesity Crisis Conference,” will challenge individuals, community organizations, and governments to begin working immediately to wipe out childhood obesity in central Virginia. Details.
